"I would like to share with you a story about Simon.

Last night when we came back home from kung fu class, I told Simon that I had learned Poison Hands. So I showed him and while I tried to remember and do the movements in the right sequence, he observed and recited the poems with me. Then he smiled. I think he felt happy that mom was learning what he already knows. Then he went on to give me a demonstration of his own knowledge. First, the salute, then poison hands and continued on with other movements.

I feel so proud of him. Kung Fu is probably the first thing he knows more of than I do. I see how he has progressed over the months and how he enjoys learning from you.

Leo and I are also very pleased with our training. You are doing a great job. Thank you".

See you in class,
Maria

“I just wanted to take a moment to thank the two of you for working with me the way you have these past six to seven months since I’ve started on the Masters Path.  I am not sure if you hear positive feedback often enough but I’d like to describe a few things that I think are subtle but important that you and your staff does outside of the obvious martial arts training itself.  These are the things that help make this a very positive experience for this “middle aged, somewhat out of shape, never done martial arts before guy” feel good about what is happening for him (me).”

  1. Respect:  not only do you expect respect from your students (which makes sense in a discipline training way) but you also have given me respect not only as a customer (good business) but also as an individual struggling to better themselves.  From the sincere “How are you feeling today?”, to the subtle “Try these stretches” to even dealing with my weak points (Instructor Tess stood on my toes last night so I could complete 20 full sit-ups) you have done it all without a condescending attitude at all.  This also extends to your staff, btw.
  2. Stick-to-it-tiveness:  You’ve stuck with me and encouraged me to stick with Martial Arts.  I’ve often felt like I was holding back a class due to not remembering a form or combination, lack of skill, etc.  That was my own inner voice speaking.  You and your staff go out of their way to make sure I feel good about wherever I am at and that I am NOT holding back the rest of the class.  That’s important for a guy like me to feel like my being there is not costing someone else their advancement.
  3. Side conversations:  I feel like you and your staff take a personal interest in my well being.  That’s a cool feeling to have.  I appreciate that and thank you for it.

Anyway, I felt compelled to write down my thoughts and share them with you.  I believe you have a good thing going and your choice and training of staff is spot on.  Instructors Adam and Allisa are not only clearly qualified but also fun to work with.  I take real joy out of watching them with the kids.  I love kids and the way they teach is special.  It never fails to bring a smile to my face. The assistant instructors show genuine caring and skill, as well.  You should be proud of all of them and take a personal credit for helping create this environment.

“My child’s self confidence has improved greatly as well as his strength and physical shape. He has also made some wonderful lifelong friends. The classes he attends also helped him have a special bond with his mother as she attends classes as well!” -Steve Santinelli

“It was recommended by Michael’s OT Therapist that he join Karate. After visiting several martial arts studios, we decided on the Academy of Health & Martial Arts. At first, Michael could barely follow the steps and could not physically keep up. Now, after several months he can do so much. His upper body strength has really improved as well as his ability to follow multi step directions. His writing in school has improved and his OT Therapist has noticed a big difference with his strength. We are so pleased with Michael’s overall strength and agility. We are so happy with Instructor Phil, Michael’s instructor. He is so positive with Michael, Michael is much more confident now. Instructor Phil has done a great job and has so much patience with the children. He has taught Michael so much. We highly recommend the Academy of Health & Martial Arts to others. Thank you for all your help”. -Karen Pattelena

"My son has had something to look forward to all week. It will be so nice to have something to do with him through the cold weather. Jacob still has a hard time focusing and controlling his outbursts but I’m sure that as time goes by, along with the help of the instructors at the Academy of Health and Martial Arts, he will get better. Thank you for all your patience. The Academy really does make our child feel accepted and proud”. -Sincerely, Katie & Daniel Forget

“Natalie thoroughly enjoys her classes. She loves learning an art form. It has taught her respect and discipline to the Instructors and others, and to work out and have fun at the same time. She is also proud to be part of the Kenpo team, learning, growing and helping to teach students of a lower rank. You have taught Natalie a lot she loves her classes. Thank you for all you do”. -Karen Riddel

“Karate has been wonderful for our kids. It has helped them develop coordination, focus, leadership skills and discipline. The Academy has been a godsend for us because it has helped the kids to continue their training in Kenpo Karate, in a warm and professional setting with good instructors. It has eased their transition into a new town and school and I will always be grateful for that”. -Wendy Corchado
